Tortoise makes hilarious Mr Burns style groans while mating
This is the fascinating moment a pet tortoise let out a hilarious Mr Burns style groans while mating.
Footage shows the romantic pet thrusting behind his Sulcata partner on the floor of a garage in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The randy reptile can be heard enthusiastically moaning in pleasure as he mounts his companion, his wheezy sounds mimicking the groans of the fictional character from The Simpsons.
The frisky, dappled-shelled gent even stamped and nudged his front limbs on her shell, mouth wide open, during the courtship on August 21.
Moments later, the Sulcata ambled away, signalling the end of their session with the exhausted leopard tortoise.
The pet owner quickly stepped in and removed the still-very-much-engaged tortoise.
Tortoises' mating sessions can last from a few minutes to over an hour, with seemingly rough behaviour being normal.
Females can store sperm for weeks or months, allowing a single mating to fertilise multiple future clutches of eggs.
Some species have elaborate courtship behaviours to assert dominance and attract a mate.
Males can also be persistent, sometimes attempting to mate even when the female is not receptive.
