This is the amusing moment a shy hedgehog was seen running away during its first encounter with tortoises.

The two curious Sulcata tortoises ambled towards the spiny mammal at a garage in Bangkok, Thailand.

Footage captured by Tananan Ruannark shows one of the reptiles approaching the quilled creature in an attempt to bite its prickly spines on July 24.

This prompted Tananan, the pet owner of the tortoises, to gently push the animal away from the aloof hedgehog.

Meanwhile, the keeper of the mammal can be heard laughing in the background.

However, the stubborn tortoise continued to follow the hedgehog.

Hedgehogs are generally shy and solitary creatures that rely on their spines for protection from predators. Despite their prickly exterior, hedgehogs can be quite curious but tend to avoid confrontation when possible.
