A dust storm with 50 mph gusts swept through the Burning Man festival in Nevada.

Footage shows tents and makeshift shelters in Black Rock City battered by fierce winds and engulfed in thick dust on Saturday, August 23.

Local media reported that at least four attendees were injured, and the event gate was temporarily closed for two hours as gusts pounded the area. Several campsites sustained damage, disrupting parts of the festival.

A project spokesman said: 'Participants and staff were advised to batten down their camps and avoid driving during low visibility.'

The storm hit on Saturday evening after thunderstorms over the Sierra Nevada pushed strong winds across the desert.

The National Weather Service issued a dust storm advisory for Black Rock City at 5:14 pm, warning of a wall of dust, wind gusts exceeding 45 mph, and visibility reduced to less than one mile.

Burning Man is an annual week-long arts and culture festival held in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada. It attracts tens of thousands of participants who create a temporary city focused on self-expression, community, and sustainability. The event culminates in the burning of a large wooden effigy known as 'The Man'.
