Terrifying moment worker buried under fabric after shelves collapse, colleagues battle to rescue him
On 22 August in Puning, Guangdong, a man (the owner of a textile business) was moving goods between shelves when the shelving suddenly collapsed, instantly burying him under a large pile of fabric.
His family members and workers on site immediately rushed to clear away the fabric. After about three minutes, they managed to pull the trapped owner out and quickly sent him to hospital.
Doctors found that several of his ribs were injured, and he is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
The man explained that each roll of fabric weighs around 29 kilograms. When he was crushed underneath, he struggled to breathe and couldn’t speak before soon losing consciousness. He said he had narrowly escaped death, and once discharged, he plans to personally thank the workers who rescued him and reinforce the shelves to prevent another accident.
