This is the shocking moment a lorry smashed through a motorway toll station before overturning and colliding with a highway patrol vehicle parked at the roadside in Turkey.

CCTV footage shows the truck crashing through the toll barriers at the Huseyinli toll booths before swerving into a gendarmerie vehicle stationed at a checkpoint in Cekmekoy on August 28.


The force of the impact dragged the patrol vehicle into a ditch. Emergency services, including medical, fire, and gendarmerie teams, quickly responded to the scene.

Five people were injured in the incident, including Specialist Gendarmerie Corporal Hasan Dogan, Specialist Corporal Mustafa Karahaliloglu, two individuals inside the lorry, and one nearby civilian.

All received first aid at the scene before being taken to the hospital.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed that the trucker, identified as Y.O., was detained following the crash.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of drugs, and subsequent tests confirmed the driver was under the influence.
