A passenger was injured when a car crash caused windows to shatter and doors to buckle on a train in Japan.

Footage captured by a commuter named Shism shows the aftermath of the collision, revealing shattered glass and heavily damaged metal doors on the JR Hanasaki Line in Nemuro City, Hokkaido.

Local media reported that a speeding car struck the train at the Hattaushi railroad crossing between Attoko and Bettoga stations on the morning of January 26.

Shism, who filmed the scene, confirmed he suffered a minor injury during the impact.

Train officers immediately reported the incident to the police, and an ambulance arrived shortly after to provide first aid to the injured traveller.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
