China: Reclusive snow leopards spotted in Qinghai's nature reserve
Storyline: Two snow leopards were captured wandering together among the rocks in Datong Beichuan River Source Area National Nature Reserve, northwest China's Qinghai Province. The footage taken by a remote monitoring system shows one of the snow leopards approaching an infrared camera on a hillside, curiously nibbling at the device. Meanwhile, the other one is seen tugging at a piece of clothing hanging on a metal pole. Both of them appear relaxed, strolling and observing their surroundings with calm curiosity. Snow leopards, known as the "king of the snow mountains," are under China's first-class national protection, typically inhabiting high-altitude rocky terrains and meadows at an altitude of 2,000 to 6,000 meters. In recent years, targeted ecological conservation efforts in Qinghai have led to significant habitat improvements for these creatures. According to local authorities, the snow leopard population in Qinghai has now exceeded 1,200. Shotlist: Datong Hui and Tu Autonomous County, Qinghai Province, northwest China - Recent: 1. Various of snow leopards rambling, nibbling at infrared camera, clothing. [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
