A female passenger was detained after attacking a subway security guard in China.

Footage shows the angry commuter repeatedly striking the guard with her handbag as he tries to block her blows at Exit B of the Science Museum Station in Shenzhen.

She also hit a female officer on the head before the male officer was forced to subdue her on the ground as she continued the assault, until additional security personnel arrived on September 6, around 9 pm.

Shenzhen Rail Police reported that the woman refused to undergo inspection, ignored instructions, and assaulted the security officer. She has been placed in administrative detention.

Shenzhen Metro stated the inspector involved remained patient and restrained during the incident and followed proper procedures.

They confirmed the officer will be commended and formally recognised for his conduct.
