Los Angeles, United States - September 11, 2025 09/10/2025 10:30 pm GMT-0700 EL MONTE, Calif. – The El Monte Police Department pursued a red Honda sedan, ending at a gas station at the intersection of Durfee Avenue and Garvey Avenue. The chase culminated in an officer-involved shooting, resulting in the death of one person found on the ground near the Honda. The passenger door of the sedan was nearly torn off. Another individual, whose identity is unclear, was transported to the hospital with injuries that have not been disclosed. It remains uncertain whether this person was an officer or a passenger in the Honda. A witness at the scene provided information off camera, stating she had seen an altercation between a male suspect and a female passenger at a nearby Superior Grocers. She reported that a domestic dispute escalated, with the male hitting the female. The witness also mentioned that she believed her vehicle had been struck by the suspect's car, prompting her involvement in the situation.
