This is the heartwarming moment a couple moved a stricken snakehead fish back into a pond.

The passing motorists spotted the hapless fish in the middle of the road in Surin, Thailand.

Seeing it suffocating, the kind-hearted locals collected the animal from the motorway and return it to a puddle on the roadside on May 23.

Footage shows the man walking into the middle of the highway and gently picking up the freshwater fish with a piece of paper.

He then carefully carried it to a nearby canal through the grass and released it into the water.

Relieved to see the fish survive, the pair then got back on their motorbike and continued their journey.

Snakehead fish can survive on land for hours by breathing air and moving short distances using their fins. This adaptation helps them travel between water sources, especially during rainy seasons.
