A set of escalators has become an unlikely selfie spot for shoppers at a newly opened mall in Bangkok.

Footage shows mallgoers riding the Instagram-worthy diagonal steps at the Central Park shopping centre in Bangkok, which opened its first phase on September 4.

The eight moving stairways, lit up with softly glowing panels on the sides, cut vertically up the spacious atrium, creating a visually pleasing lattice with strong dynamic lines.

Shoppers said the modern design made them feel like they were tourists in Japan, Singapore or South Korea.

Central Park is part of the Dusit Central Park mixed-use project, covering 130,000 square metres of gross building area.

The project includes a shopping centre, office tower, hotel, and residences, with a total investment of 46 billion baht. It spans 9 acres (23 rai) of land.

The mall is expected to welcome more than 25 million visitors annually, or about 70,000 visitors per day.
