Truck carrying shrimp loses brakes on steep road and smashes into bubble tea store in China
On the morning of September 22 in Fuzhou, Fujian, a box truck loaded with shrimp lost control after its brakes failed while descending a steep slope, eventually crashing into a Mixue Bingcheng store at a T-junction.
Surveillance footage shows the truck smashing into the storefront entrance and coming to a halt. The cargo box was badly damaged, and piles of shrimp scattered across the ground.
Fortunately, the store had not yet opened for business, and no staff were inside, so there were no casualties. The driver was unharmed, while a passenger in the front seat sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The driver said the truck was originally heading to a processing plant but took a wrong turn. While traveling down the steep slope in Tailu Town, the brakes suddenly failed. He tried steering to avoid the crash but couldn’t, and the vehicle plowed directly into the store.
The store’s manager said losses would be assessed and compensation discussed with the trucking company.
