Philippines - September 26, 2025 Cuyo, Palawan – The Philippine Coast Guard recovered suspected rocket debris found by a local fisherman in waters near Brgy. Funda Bisucay Island, Cuyo, Palawan. Preliminary assessments indicate the materials may be linked to a recent launch from China’s Long March rocket program. The launch on September 16, 2025, involved a Long March 2C rocket with a Yuanzheng-1S upper stage, part of China’s ongoing space exploration missions including satellite deployment and technological development. Brgy. Captain Alena Lagan Macaslin quickly alerted the Coast Guard Station Eastern Palawan after the debris was discovered. Local authorities and the Philippine Coast Guard secured the area to ensure public safety and proper handling of the materials. The debris has been transferred to the Coast Guard District Palawan for safekeeping. The Philippine Coast Guard will later send the items to the Philippine Space Agency for detailed analysis to verify their origin and composition. Commodore Neil Azcuna, Coast Guard District Commander, urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspected rocket debris to the nearest Coast Guard station, barangay officials, or relevant authorities. He advised the public not to handle or move such materials due to potential safety hazards.
