GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - SEPTEMBER 27: An Israeli airstrike hit a civilian gathering in Gaza City's al-Daraj neighborhood on Saturday, killing at least eight Palestinians, four of whom were children, according to medical sources.
The strike targeted the al-Sidra area within the neighborhood. Initial reports put the death toll at six, which was later revised to eight.
The attack was part of a wider wave of Israeli assaults across the Gaza Strip. Since dawn on Saturday, at least 86 Palestinians have been killed and many others injured in relentless attacks, medical sources confirmed. Among the fatalities was a journalist.
Eyewitnesses and medical sources who spoke to Anadolustated that the day's attacks primarily targeted inhabited homes and crowds of people waiting for humanitarian aid.
Following the airstrike in al-Daraj, grieving relatives gathered at a hospital to bid emotional farewells to their loved ones and perform funeral prayers.
The Israeli army has killed nearly 66,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in Gaza since October 2023. Months of air and ground assaults have left Gaza largely uninhabitable, pushing its population into famine.
