Shocked supermarket staff saw a bear cub running through the aisles of the store in Arizona.

Footage captured by Charlie Alolkoy shows the juvenile bruin sprinting past the rows of food at Fry's grocery store in Oro Valley on September 29.

Shoppers kept their distance as the animal wandered around the store at around 6:30 am local time.

The encounter prompted store employees to contact the police, who immediately instructed them to evacuate the premises.

Officers arrived to find customers and staff gathered safely outside the building.

Moments later, the bear exited the store on its own and was last seen sprinting across the parking area with police following closely behind.

Onlookers recalled that the bear had been scratching at the sliding glass doors before they opened, allowing it to enter.

A witness said: 'We were stunned when the cub suddenly charged toward the produce section. We panicked and ran out of the store.'
