Phoenix, United States - October 03, 2025 10/02/2025 06:40 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to Phoenix Police Public Relations Sergeant Brian Bower, officers were called to reports of a man armed with a gun attempting to rob a woman in a Burger King at the southwest corner of 16th Street and Buckeye Road, Thursday evening. Officers arrived on scene and located the subject inside the Burger King and ordered him to the ground. The suspect complied with the officers and lay down on the floor. As officers moved to detain the man, he attempted to stand back up abruptly. One officer discharged his service weapon, shooting the suspect. Officers rendered medical aid to the man until Phoenix Fire Department personnel arrived and transported him to a local area hospital, where he is expected to survive. No firearms were recovered from the suspect. The investigation into the officer-involved shooting is being handled by the Arizona Department of Public Safety's Major Incident Division. This incident is the second shooting involving Phoenix police within 24 hours.
