Phoenix, United States - January 03, 2026 01/02/2026 11:30 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix police officers located an occupied stolen Lexus sedan in the area of Buckeye Road and 35th Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Friday. Ground units requested assistance from the Phoenix Police Air Unit before attempting to stop the vehicle. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the sedan once the police helicopter arrived overhead. The suspect refused to yield, and felony flight was established. A tactical surveillance operation was initiated, and Phoenix Police Tactical Support Bureau resources responded to assist. Ground units fell back to a safe distance, out of the suspect's line of sight, while the police helicopter tracked the suspect from above. The suspect led officers east through South Phoenix, cutting through several residential areas. At some point during the operation, stop sticks were deployed ahead of the stolen sedan. The stop sticks were successful and deflated multiple tires of the car. Tactical Support Bureau units eventually converged on the stolen sedan near 40th Street and Southern Avenue. A Grappler Police Bumper was deployed, and the sedan was brought to an abrupt stop. The suspect, an adult male, immediately fled from the vehicle on foot. The suspect ran south through the residential area near Nancy Lane and 40th Street. Tactical Support Bureau units with K-9s caught up with the suspect near the 4100 block of East Burgess Lane. The suspect refused to comply with commands, prompting officers to deploy a K-9. Compliance was gained after the K-9 bit the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody and later transported to a local hospital due to injuries sustained from the K-9. Once the medical evaluation has been completed, the suspect will be released into Phoenix police custody, where he will face several felony charges.
