SHOTLIST: ISTANBUL, TÜRKİYE (OCT. 10, 2025) (ANADOLU - ACCESS ALL) 1. SOUNDBITE (English) PALESTINIAN ORIGIN DOCTOR FROM US DHIA DAOUD SAYING: “So, we came in and we they abducted us from the international water and then they detained as they came in with the helicopters and then they came in with their machine guns and pointing at us. They beat some of us and then they detained us and then we were sat on our knees for hours and they grabbed us from all over the neck and inside the airport. They stole some of our stuff. They put us in a jail in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the desert. It was very scary and then we will never forget that there are thousands of people like them like us we didn't see one 10th of the what Palestinians are seeing over there. There are thousands of Palestinians detained they need to get out. These Palestinians are sitting without any kind of any legal ramifications. They're just sitting there we need them to get out.” 2. SOUNDBITE (English) NOORSHAM ABUBAKAR FROM MALAYSIA SAYING: “I am Noorsham from Malaysia and I came from Ship of Conscience. Thank you very much to the Turkish government for this support. But the focus should still be on Gaza and the Palestinians. It is not about us. They are still being jailed and murdered.” 3. SOUNDBITE (English) VIGDIS BJORVAND FROM NORWAY SAYING: “Thank you, Türkiye, thank you so much we are sailing for breaking the siege in Gaza and when we meet a nation like Türkiye, which is so well coming it makes us getting more and more energy to sail to do all the way to break the siege in Gaza.” “My ships name is Civic Dispute One. I'm from Norway. I will first of all say thank you so much Türkiye and the Turkish Airline that they welcomed us and has brought us to Istanbul. It's been really fantastic and it makes me believe in the humanity. I get stronger to keep on sailing until the siege stopped and the Palestinians are free. We will keep on sailing.” 4. MARY ANN WRIGHT, A RETIRED US COLONEL, FORMER DIPLOMAT, AND AMERICAN MEMBER OF THE FREEDOM FLOTILLA COALITION (FFC) DELIVERING SPEECH AS INTERPRETOR TRANSLATES IT IN TO TURKISH ISTANBUL, TÜRKİYE - OCT. 10: A Turkish Airlines flight carrying pro-Palestinian activists, who were detained by Israel after an attack on the Freedom Flotilla, but still determined to sail to break the siege in Gaza, arrived in Istanbul on Friday (Oct. 10). The flight, which departed from Jordan on a special mission to evacuate the activists, landed at Istanbul Airport. A total of 94 activists from the Freedom Flotilla Coalition were on board, including 18 Turkish nationals and 76 foreign citizens. They were greeted at the airport by their families, officials, and a large number of people. Palestinian origin activist from the US Dhia Daoud stressed that they encountered a cruel treatment in the Israel’s jail but still thought of the people in the Gaza Strip and Palestinians in the jail. “We will never forget that there are thousands of people like them (Palestinians) we didn't see one 10th of the what Palestinians are seeing over there,” Daoud said. Another activist from the Ship of Conscience, Noorsham Abubakar thanked the Turkish government for their support during the transportation process. “The focus should still be on Gaza and the Palestinians. It is not about us. They are still being jailed and murdered,” she noted. On the apron, the activists were welcomed with flowers by Hasan Turan, head of the Türkiye-Palestine Interparliamentary Friendship Group; AK Party Istanbul deputy Abdullah Ozdemir, head of the AK Party Istanbul branch; and Turkish Airlines officials. After the welcome, the activists were escorted by bus to the airport exit. Israeli naval forces attacked and seized more than 40 boats last week that were part of the Gaza-bound Global Sumud humanitarian aid flotilla and detained over 450 activists who were on board. Most of them have been since been deported. Many told hair-raising stories of abuse at the hands of their Israeli captors.
