Neighbours work together to carry a coffin across a flooded bridge
A group of villagers worked together to carry a coffin across a flooded bridge.
Joanne Teodoro and her family had to cross the broken walkway to transport her uncle's body on a funeral procession to the cemetery in Sorsogon, the Philippines.
Footage shows several men carefully navigating the rocky path while lifting the white casket on October 8.
They are seen inching their way across the narrow bridge, its centre submerged in water.
Moments later, the group climbs up a muddy slope from the riverbank and places the coffin into a waiting van.
Joanne said: 'Our province hasn't had a proper bridge for almost 10 years. They built one, but it collapsed due to flooding.'
The Philippines has long struggled with ageing infrastructure, with many roads and bridges falling short of safety standards. Ongoing issues within the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have seen private contractors linked to inflated costs and stolen funds, leaving projects unfinished or poorly built and raising safety concerns.
