Model, 26, whose 'organs were harvested' seen on CCTV calmly leaving airport in Thailand
An aspiring model who was reportedly 'trafficked' to Myanmar before being killed and having her organs harvested was seen on airport CCTV calmly leaving Thailand.
Vera Kravtsova, 26, was said to have been tricked into a fake modelling job in Bangkok, only to have been bundled out of the country to lawless Myanmar - the regional epicentre of call-centre scams and meth production.
Russian media reported that Vera, from Belarus, was 'forced across the border' where she was held hostage and set to work by a ruthless boiler room gang targeting wealthy foreigners.
But cameras from the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok on September 20 show how Vera was unaccompanied as she calmly exited the country, without asking for assistance. She is seen in the footage using the electronic gates and scanning her passport.
Police Major General Cherngron Rimphadee, spokesman for the Immigration Bureau, said that officials had examined Vera's immigration records in the biometric database and branded the claims she had been kidnapped in Thailand 'fake news'.
He said: ‘We cannot answer for what happened after she flew to Myanmar because that is beyond Thailand's jurisdiction.
'But we can confirm that she was not abducted or kidnapped in Thailand. She transited through the country. The reports claiming otherwise are fake news, and we have identified the suspect behind them.'
Officers found that Kravtsova arrived in Thailand on September 12 at 12.41 am.
She later departed on Thai Airways flight TG301 to Yangon International Airport in Myanmar, passing through the departure checkpoint at Suvarnabhumi Airport on September 20 at 7.20 am.
The biometric data confirmed that both entries belonged to the same person.
She passed through the Automatic Channel (ABC Gate) without inspection by an immigration officer, and security camera footage showed that she appeared to be travelling voluntarily.
The police chief also mentioned that the department had provided the footage showing her arrival and departure to the Belarusian embassy.
With this evidence, the officer denied reports published in international media claiming that Vera had been 'abducted' in Thailand and taken to Myanmar.
However, Police Major General Rimphadee said that officers were aware scammers were luring victims to neighbouring countries in similar ways, prompting authorities to establish guidelines to screen foreigners and prevent them from being deceived.
He added: 'This approach includes a screening process at airports and requires visitors to enter their accommodation details into the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) system.
'Furthermore, the military, local authorities, and police have set up several checkpoints in Tak province to monitor movement across the border.
'Officials have also denied entry to individuals considered high-risk or suspected of being criminals posing as tourists under the visa-free entry scheme.'
