Recently, an unroped bungee jump test conducted on the Huajiang Canyon Bridge in Guizhou has attracted public attention.

In the test footage, sandbags can be seen dropping vertically from a great height into a safety net below. The thrilling scene drew cheers from onlookers.

According to project staff, the unroped bungee jump is expected to officially open to the public after October 22, 2025. To ensure visitor safety, the project team carried out rigorous safety tests. During the trials, sandbags weighing 75 kg and 100 kg were used to simulate participants of different body weights, testing the stability and load-bearing capacity of the safety net through repeated experiments.

Unlike traditional bungee jumping, the unroped version offers a completely different kind of excitement. Participants are not attached to any rope; instead, they leap directly from the platform and land on a giant safety net measuring around 160 square metres. The net is securely fixed at all four corners to absorb the impact of the fall, after which it is lowered to the bottom platform to allow participants to leave safely.

The unroped bungee also offers a range of options for visitors. Jumpers can choose their height between 20 and 50 metres, catering to different preferences for thrill levels. In terms of price, the unroped bungee is also more affordable, costing approximately 1,600 to 1,688 yuan, compared to 2,999 yuan for the traditional version.

The Huajiang Canyon Bridge is located on the border between Guanling Buyi and Miao Autonomous County in Anshun City and Zhenfeng County in the Qianxinan Prefecture of Guizhou Province. It spans the Huajiang Grand Canyon, often referred to as the “Earth’s Crack”, and officially opened to traffic on 28 September 2025.

The bridge has a total length of 2,890 metres, with a main span of 1,420 metres. The deck stands 625 metres above the river, surpassing the Beipanjiang Bridge to become the new “world’s highest bridge”. Both its span and height rank first in the world, earning it the title “world’s number one bridge in both length and height”.
