China: Chinese suppliers, Airbus forge deeper ties for mutual growth
As Airbus opened a second assembly line for its A320 family aircraft in China on Wednesday, the aircraft manufacturer is also advancing closer cooperation with Chinese suppliers, creating opportunities for China's high-end manufacturing enterprises to expand their market share and business in the global aviation sector. The second Chinese line in the northern Chinese port city of Tianjin demonstrates Airbus' confidence in the country's thriving civil aviation market, resilient supply chain and favorable business climate. Airbus has collaborated with about 200 Chinese suppliers to date, with a supply chain spanning from upstream raw materials to downstream assembly. The operation of the new Airbus assembly line and its expanded production capacity are expected to present development opportunities for leading Chinese companies in composite material manufacturing, high-end intelligent manufacturing, and aviation components. This will generate more product supply demands based on global standards, thereby fostering a dual-driven capacity upgrade powered by both market and technology. SOUNDBITE (English) Guillaume Faury, chief executive officer, Airbus (partially overlaid with shots 4-5): "We're very happy with the environment, with the quality of the partnership that we have here and the quality of the planes we are producing. I've started a lot of new things here. We are growing in engineering, in design, sometimes in research as well. We're growing in production with our partners and ourselves, with the second final assembly line. Actually, with the growth of the aviation sector in the world and in China, the very fast growth, our expectation is to be successful on what we're doing." [SHOTS OVERLAYING SOUNDBITE]; 4. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Zhao Xuesen, Vice Director, Administrative Committee, Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone (ending with shot 8): "Nearly 50 renowned enterprises are now located in Tianjin, capable of directly supplying Airbus. The industrial ecosystem is becoming increasingly robust, and cooperation among these companies is growing ever closer."; 8. Various of plane parts being assembled; workers; 9. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Qi Qi, associate professor, Guangzhou Civil Aviation College (ending with shots 10-11): "While China's high-end manufacturing industry has already gained internationally leading advantages in many fields, the manufacturing of large civil aircraft and its supporting ecosystem started relatively late here. Adhering to Airbus standards, complying with international regulations, and enhancing comprehensive capabilities -- if these three goals are achieved, and as Chinese enterprises gradually establish their advantages in technology and cost in the international aviation manufacturing sector, the increase in global market share and the acceleration of business expansion for Chinese manufacturing in the aviation field will follow naturally."; FILE: China - Exact Location and Date Unknown 10.
