This is the shocking moment a toddler emerged unscathed after being run over by a car driven by a minor in India.

Footage shows the three-year-old girl strolling outside when a black vehicle suddenly appeared in Noble Nagar, Ahmedabad.

Upon seeing the car, the youngster tried to run away, but the reckless driver failed to brake and hit the child as the vehicle turned at an intersection.

Miraculously, the distressed girl then crawled out from beneath the vehicle as the driver quickly rushed to check on her. Residents came out of their homes to see what was happening after hearing the girl's loud cries on October 29.

Police have registered a case against the underage driver and launched an investigation, while also reminding parents to watch over their toddlers.

Officials are now tracing the vehicle's owner, who will face charges including allowing a car without a number plate to be driven.

India has one of the highest rates of road accidents in the world, with thousands of fatalities and injuries reported each year.

The startling bad track record is blamed on unsafe road conditions, reckless driving, inadequate enforcement of traffic laws, and a lack of awareness about road safety.
