Footage filmed by traveller Stephen May captures flash flooding inside Sydney Airport’s international terminal on November 3, 2025, as a severe thunderstorm brought torrential rain to the city.
Videos show stunned passengers standing still as pounding rain echoed across the roof before water suddenly poured through, flooding duty-free shops and concourse areas. Staff rushed to manage electrical alarms and puddles as parts of the terminal were temporarily closed, though no injuries were reported.
Stephen, who was catching an Emirates flight to Dubai, described the surreal moment: “It sounded like a plane was landing on the roof—then the waterfall started. The floors were full of puddles and alarms sounding. Funnily enough, a friend told me the roof work was relatively new—hope they got a buyback clause!”
