Sydney Airport was hit by leaks and flooding as torrential rain battered the city.

Footage shows rainwater pouring through the ceiling, inundating duty-free shops and concourse areas on November 3.

Staff rushed to manage electrical alarms and mop up water as parts of the terminal were temporarily closed, though no injuries were reported.

A Sydney Airport spokesman said: 'Due to a storm cell near the airport, yesterday, 3 November, some flight departures and arrivals were delayed during the evening.

'Sydney Airport remains open and operational, and additional staff have been deployed to assist passengers. With the potential for knock-on delays, passengers are advised to check with their airline regarding the status of their flight.

'The heavy rain, hail, and strong winds also caused some leaks and ceiling damage in parts of the terminal, and contractors are on site working to resolve this.'
