Storyline: Typhoon Kalmaegi moved away from the Philippines before dawn Thursday after leaving 114 dead, at least 127 missing and affecting over 1.95 million people, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). The humanitarian impact has been enormous, with more than 560,000 displaced individuals having taken shelter in evacuation centers. The torrential rains brought by the typhoon triggered widespread flooding in 115 areas across the country. Infrastructure has suffered severe damage, with Over 1,200 houses damaged, along with 75 public facilities, including hospitals and schools. The typhoon's powerful winds and rains have also crippled essential services, with electricity supply disrupted in 156 municipalities, and communications affected in 10 municipalities. In response to the emergency, 680 municipalities have announced to suspend classes, and 468 municipalities have announced to suspend work. A state of calamity has been declared in 55 municipalities to expedite relief and rehabilitation efforts. Typhoon Kalmaegi made landfall in the Philippines in the early hours of Tuesday.
