Rescuers paddled on a life boat to evacuate stranded residents during Typhoon Koto.

Footage shows the volunteers navigating 10ft (3m) deep flood looking for families to take to temporary shelters in Cagayan, the Philippines on November 27.

Some of the locals waited on the second floors of their homes while others had to take refuge on the roofs.

The Philippine Coast Guard said dozens of people were safely transported to a nearby school that had been converted into a evacuation centres.

Typhoon Koto formed near southern Philippines on November 23, locally named Verbena. The storm made seven landfalls across the country before moving into the South China Sea on a track toward Vietnam.

The storm, together with the shear line, brought heavy rain that caused floods and landslides, leaving one dead. Its effects worsened the damage already left by recent Typhoon Kalmaegi and Fung-wong.
