Residents were evacuated from homes overwhelmed by flooding brought by Typhoon Koto in the Philippines.

Footage shows families being helped into the back of a truck in Cagayan province on November 27.

Mothers carrying children and elderly villagers were ferried on a rescue boat to higher ground, where the vehicle waited.

The Philippine Coast Guard said dozens of people were safely transported to a nearby school that had been converted into a temporary shelter.

Typhoon Koto formed near southern Philippines on November 23, locally named Verbena. The storm made seven landfalls across the country before moving into the South China Sea on a track toward Vietnam.

The storm, together with the shear line, brought heavy rain that caused floods and landslides, leaving one dead. Its effects worsened the damage already left by recent Typhoon Kalmaegi and Fung-wong.
