Sterling Heights, United States - November 01, 2025 Body camera footage released by the Sterling Heights Police Department shows the moments an officer saved the life of a choking infant inside a Walmart. Early in November, Officer Edwar Talia was working a special assignment detail at the store when he was alerted to a medical emergency involving a 5-month-old child. Around 8:30 p.m. on November 1, Talia responded quickly after learning the infant had stopped breathing. He rushed to the mother and child and immediately began delivering continuous back blows to the baby while remaining calm, according to the police department. The childs airway soon cleared, and the infant began breathing again on its own. Witnesses on scene assisted as Talia worked to save the child. “The Sterling Heights Police Department prides itself on being ready for any chaotic or unexpected incident,” the department said. “Officer Talia’s quick and heroic actions undoubtedly saved this baby’s life.”
