Landslides kill resident in southern Thailand as rain and floods hit region
A landslide killed a resident when it buried a house during heavy rain in southern Thailand.
Suphachok Kaewthong, 65, was killed when the earth and rocks crashed down a hillside onto his property in Yala on November 23 at 5pm.
Rescue teams arrived in the Than To district to provide assistance. Officers used a backhoe to extract Suphachok's body from the house before sending it to a hospital.
The Meteorological Department forecasted that the lower part of the west coast in southern Thailand, including Yala, would experience fairly widespread thundershowers and scattered heavy to isolated very heavy rain on that day.
