Roof collapses as storm hits motorcycle repair shop in Thailand
This is the dramatic moment the roof of a car repair shop collapsed during a storm in Thailand.
CCTV footage shows the You Service garage being pounded by torrential rain and fierce winds in Yala province.
The metal sheet walls shook before a violent downburst struck, flattening the entire shop on August 2. The roof then came crashing down on cars and motorbikes inside.
The devastated owner said: 'What should I do now? The career I used to support my family with is completely ruined, and I don't know where to start so that I can continue working. Thank God I was able to run away and escape. This ordeal is so heavy.'
The Thai Meteorological Department forecasted a weak southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.
The agency predicted isolated thundershowers along the east coast of southern Thailand, including Yala, with waves expected to reach more than 6.6 feet (two metres) during storms.
Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
