This is the dramatic moment a truck battled through a swollen river before it was submerged in the raging water during a flood in Vietnam.

Footage shows the green container lorry carefully manoeuvring across the river in Nguyen Nghiem, Quang Tri province.

Moments later, the heavy goods vehicle came to a grinding halt midway, its tyres becoming lodged in the pathway.

Worried crowds can be seen gathering on the bank watching the lorry being carried away by the current.

Authorities urge residents in affected areas to evacuate immediately and to strictly avoid all riverbanks and flood-prone waterways.

Local media reported that the country has been experiencing severe flash floods due to severe and prolonged rainfall across the Central Region and Central Highlands.

The death toll has tragically risen, with at least 102 people dead and others missing across the affected provinces. Over 200,000 houses were flooded and more than 119,000 individuals were evacuated to safety.
