This is the dramatic moment locals pulled a pickup truck caught in a surging flash flood in Thailand.

Saranthorn Rodniao, 25, was driving his vehicle with two colleagues for a ceiling installation job in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand at 9 am on November 26.

But while crossing the road, the truck was engulfed by rapidly rising waters during the storm. Saranthorn and his friends battled to jump out of the truck, and ran to call for help before the vehicle could be swept away.

Police Colonel Weerasak Srithong, superintendent of Phrom Khiri Police Station, dispatched officers to respond to the incident with volunteers, national park staff, and local disaster mitigation personnel.

Using a crane, they successfully hoisted the submerged truck as worried onlookers watched on the banks of the river.

The officers successfully dragged the truck out of the cascading torrents.

Authorities later issued a public advisory urging drivers to look for alternative roads and steer clear of the flooded route.

National park staff also cautioned locals against visiting waterfalls in the province's Phrom Khiri district, citing safety concerns.
