This was the terrifying moment a toddler sledging downhill veered sideways off the path - sparking a frantic rescue by her family.

Nika was out for a walk with her daughter, sister, father and brother on Sunday (Nov 23) when they let her little girl take her first ride down a hill near Počúvadlo Lake in Slovakia.

The fun quickly turned to panic as the sled shot off to the left, narrowly missing a steep drop.

Nika's sister managed to grab the toddler just in time, but not before her brother and father tumbled down the snowy slope trying to help.

Nika, from Levice, Slovakia, said: "I was enjoying filming my daughter going downhill for the first time, but then the sled turned."

" At first I got scared, but in the end"

it was funny.

"My dad went down fast, but nothing bad happened. "

"He landed in front of the water and didn't even hit his back thanks to the snow. "

"And my sister caught my daughter at the top of the hill. "

"The water was shallow, so no one would have drowned."
