Russia says it took out camouflaged Ukrainian drone posts near Hulyaipole using T-80 tanks
Footage reportedly shows a Russian T-80 tank firing high-explosive rounds at suspected Ukrainian drone control points near Huliaipole.
The incident was said to have taken place on November 28 in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Ukraine.
The video shows a tank firing multiple rounds as operators from the Vostok grouping of forces reportedly provided aerial reconnaissance to identify concealed locations.
Impact flashes can be seen in the treeline as the shells hit their targets.
Russian military reports said the aerial reconnaissance detected Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle control points hidden in wooded areas near Huliaipole, then relayed coordinates to the T-80 crew.
The tank reportedly fired several accurate 125 mm high-explosive shells at the positions.
The Russian Ministry of Defence quoted a battalion commander with the callsign 'Altai' saying: 'We are now advancing in the direction of Huliaipole, moving quite successfully.
'Our job is to fire from closed firing positions, we also support assaults using armoured vehicles: we bring in personnel, accompany infantry, and work together with them.
'Working from closed firing positions, we accompany our assault groups and fire on long-term firing structures.'
The ministry added that units from the Vostok grouping continued advancing towards Huliaipole while consolidating positions.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
