Los Angeles, United States - December 01, 2025 11/30/2025 06:30 pm GMT-0800 SIMI VALLEY, Calif. – Detective Sergeant Rick Morton spoke with reporters in Simi Valley Sunday evening regarding a fatal shooting that occurred earlier in the afternoon. At approximately 12:04 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call reporting that a white male subject had approached an open garage in the 500 block of Hawks Bill Pl and heard several gunshots. When officers arrived, they found a male and a female in the driveway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a local hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries. Morton indicated that investigators believe the shooting was targeted rather than random. "We do believe the victims were targeted," he said. "There’s no danger to the public; however, we are still actively investigating the situation." Currently, the suspect remains unidentified. Investigators are working on several leads, including the possibility that the suspect may be connected to the victims' family. "We don’t have that information at this time, but we’re still looking into it," Morton stated. The victims, a married couple in their 60s, have not been publicly identified as authorities seek to confirm further details about their lives and potential motives behind the shooting. Reports from neighbors suggested that a possible involvement of a stepson was under investigation, and there was speculation about a connection to a suicide in Chino earlier in the evening. "We have investigators out there trying to see if that is related to our investigation," Morton said. Witnesses reported that the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. Investigators believe that only one suspect was involved and is no longer in the immediate vicinity. "This area is very quiet," Morton noted. "It’s shocking for the police department to deal with this. We do not typically experience incidents of this nature, particularly a double homicide." Morton thanked residents for their patience as the investigation continues. He assured them that more information would be provided as it becomes available.
