An animal rescue centre is seeking a new home for one of its biggest ever residents -

a dog ' the size of a small polar bear.'

Brody - a white Pyrenean Mountain Dog - weighs a massive 66kg and stands six feet tall on his hind legs.

The six year old canine can munch his way through 1kg of dog biscuits in a single day.

Staff at Animal Concern Cumbria say his favourite foods are fish pate and squirty cheese - he also loves a good head scratch and sitting on his owner.

Lauren Pickthall, 32, the Animal Rehoming Manager, says Brody was handed in by the previous owner, who said they could "no longer give him the attention he deserved"."

Pyrenean Mountain Dog's were bred to be livestock guardians used to protect flocks from wolves and bears.

Lauren said Broady is currently under assessment and has undergone a full de-matting spa day to transform Brody "into the glorious mountain fluff he's meant to be"."

The animal lover said: "Brody is so calm, relaxed, friendly, gentle. "

"He is a senior boy now so he only requires a couple of 30-minute walks a dog."

"He loves a tennis ball and being in the company of other people."

"At the moment he is currently being tested around other dogs, people, children, and different environments so we can safely allow him to be adopted by the best new owner when the time comes."

Surprisingly, Lauren has revealed Brody isn't the biggest canine they have dealt with having rehomed a 88kg Mastiff Cross called Khan.

Lauren said the type of owner they are looking for should have big dog breed experience and a large outdoor area for his to "tootle" around."

She also said they will need a bigger enough sofa for him to sit on.

Brody is currently not available for adoption, though the charity says he will be once the assessment is complete in a couple of weeks.

Once he's available, his profile will be posted on their website as well as Facebook and Instagram.

Lauren said: "Stay tuned for updates as he prepares for homing… preferably with someone who doesn't mind being occasionally sat on by a small polar bear."
