Brazilian police have uncovered an illegal 'view farm' allegedly used to artificially inflate YouTube music video stats.

Residents alerted authorities after noticing the constant movement of equipment and cables at a property in Macae, Rio de Janeiro.

Footage shows officers entering the building, where hundreds of smartphones and other devices were set up, playing similar video clips simultaneously.

Local media reported the facility operated 24/7, using numerous devices to boost music video views and expand content reach on the platform through manipulative means.

Higher views and watch time on YouTube videos boost ad revenue and channel scores - potentially defrauding thousands of adertisers.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into those responsible for the operation. They are also examining possible links to artists, managers, or groups involved in digital fraud.
