This footage reportedly shows a Russian Uragan multiple launch rocket system firing a salvo that strikes Ukrainian forces and equipment on the front line.

The strike reportedly took place near the city of Pokrovsk, in Donetsk Oblast, in Ukraine, on December 11.

The Russian Ministry of Defence said crews from the Uragan system belonging to the 73rd Artillery Brigade of the 25th Combined Arms Army attacked after receiving target coordinates from reconnaissance units.

Authorities reported that the gun crews completed the mission despite thick fog reducing visibility.

They reportedly calculated the trajectory and carried out the launch of 220-millimetre high-explosive fragmentation rockets at a distance of more than 25 kilometres (15.5 miles).

The ministry said that the strike destroyed Ukrainian fire positions, equipment, and personnel in the targeted area. It said this allowed Russian assault groups to advance and secure new positions with minimal losses.

After completing the fire mission, the Uragan crew reportedly changed location while following camouflage and safety protocols and maintained full combat readiness.

Officials added that the Uragan's range and coverage allow for counter-battery fire and attacks on rear positions, disrupting Ukrainian supply routes.

They said crews receive new targets daily from senior command and reconnaissance teams, with the senior battery officer deciding how many rockets to fire.

The ministry stated that Uragan systems can strike strongholds, artillery batteries, communication hubs, concentrations of personnel and armour at ranges of up to 40 kilometres (24.8 miles).

It added that at such distances, crews must account for both trajectory and weather conditions.

The Uragan is reportedly designed to destroy enemy armoured units, command points, communications centres, military-industrial sites, ammunition depots, and other designated targets.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
