This footage reportedly shows a Russian T-80BVM tank firing on Ukrainian positions during a strike on a stronghold.

The attack took place near Pokrovsk, Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defence said in a December 10 statement.

Authorities said the crew belonged to the 5th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade of the 51st Guards Combined Arms Army, part of the so-called Centre grouping of forces.

Drone reconnaissance reportedly identified a Ukrainian strongpoint, with coordinates relayed to command. The tank crew took up a prepared firing position and opened fire, with the strike corrected in real time using a drone to reduce ammunition use.

The ministry also quoted the tank commander, identified by the callsign Rubezh, as saying: 'We receive the command, receive the targets and the coordinates and then work on them.

'We try to help the assault groups as much as possible. We are observed from the drones when we work.

'We watch the video after the job, evaluate our performance and try to correct any shortcomings if there are any.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
