Sakri, Bilaspur, India - November 29, 2025 A python was spotted atop a roadside drain in a forested area. Snake rescuers arrived, carefully extracted its trapped body from a narrow passage, and safely released the reptile back into the drain. The incident took place in Sakri, in Bilaspur, in northern India's Chhattisgarh, on November 29. Visuals show that a long python was seen lying on top of a drain along a road in a forest area. A team of snake rescuers arrived and carefully handled the reptile, freeing its stuck body from a narrow passage before safely releasing the python back into the drain. Speaking to Newslions, snake rescuer Ajita Pandey stated that we received the information from Manmohan Patre and immediately went to the location, where we spotted a python lying on top of a roadside drain. Accompanied by my helpers, Saurabh and Yogesh, we approached the reptile with extreme caution. I used a cloth to gently secure the python’s head, ensuring it remained calm, while the others carefully freed its trapped body from a narrow section of the drain. After extracting it safely, we released the snake back into the drain without causing further harm. The operation was conducted meticulously to prevent stress or additional injury, reflecting the careful approach required in wildlife rescues. Ajita Pandey has dedicated the past 15 years to rescuing snakes, balancing her work as a staff nurse at a government hospital. During the COVID-19 pandemic alone, she rescued 984 snakes, and throughout her career, she has assisted over 5,000 reptiles. She is actively associated with Prathisksha Snake Cell and the Wildlife Conservation Society. In addition, Ajita has served as a Deputy Security Officer for five years and volunteered with the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) for the past three years. Her work highlights a deep commitment to wildlife conservation and community safety. [Restriction: Not Distributable in Germany]
