Storyline Industrial heritage rejuvenation drives new consumption trends in SW China [Voice_over] In southwest China's Chengdu City, the capital of Sichuan Province, a series of refurbished historic industrial sites are attracting tourists and locals with unique shopping experiences, cafes and restaurants, and entertainment options. A former electron tube factory in the city's Chenghua District has been re-purposed into a vibrant commercial complex, with music, sports activities, and space for young people to hang out. One notable project includes these repurposed hydrogen storage tanks. Taking advantage of the tanks' acoustics, they now function as a live music venue and practice area. [Sound_bite] Luo Bingwen, director, Chengdu Dongfang Zhenghuo Cultural Media Co., Ltd.: "In this latest round of renovation, we transformed the tanks into a dedicated music rehearsal space. The thick walls of the tanks create an environment very much like a professional recording studio, delivering an exceptional auditory experience for the audience." [Voice_over] Elsewhere in the city, a former lacquerware factory has been turned into a teahouse that offers tea ceremony demonstrations and cultural performances. The founder explained how lacquerware elements were incorporated into the decor. [Sound_bite] Wen Yi, founder, Daqi Teahouse: "You can now see many lanterns in this teahouse, which are adorned with intricate elements of traditional lacquerware culture. Here, customers come to sip tea, savor culture, and enjoy the pleasures of life."
