Phoenix, United States - January 02, 2026 01/02/2026 01:30 am GMT-0700 GLENDALE, Ariz. – According to an Arizona Department of Public Safety official at the scene, a DPS trooper observed an occupied stolen Toyota SUV driving with a flat rear tire near Camelback Road and the Loop 101 around 1:30 a.m. The vehicle entered the Loop 101 traveling northbound from Camelback Road with no headlights or taillights activated. The trooper followed the SUV north and waited for additional DPS resources to catch up before attempting a traffic stop. Additional units caught up to the vehicle around Glendale Avenue on the northbound Loop 101, and a traffic stop was initiated. The vehicle refused to yield, and a pursuit was initiated. Seconds later, the stolen SUV lost control and came to a stop on the dirt shoulder, north of Glendale Avenue. Five juveniles fled from the vehicle on foot and ran eastbound into a dirt field on the Tohono O'odham Desert Diamond Casino property. Resources from the Glendale Police Department, Tohono O'odham Nation Police Department, DPS, and the Phoenix Police Department helicopter responded to the area and established a large perimeter. All five juveniles were located and taken into custody shortly thereafter. Troopers recovered a handgun from the juvenile who was seen driving the stolen Toyota.
