Phoenix, United States - May 16, 2025 05/16/2025 04:34 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to DPS, a trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a red passenger car driving over 100 mph on the Red Mountain L-202 near Scottsdale Road Friday morning. The car failed to yield to the trooper, and a pursuit was initiated. The driver continued westbound on the L-202 before transitioning to the southbound SR-143. The vehicle exited at University Drive and began driving westbound. The pursuing trooper requested authorization to perform a PIT maneuver (Physical Immobilization Technique) as the car began to slow to approximately 40 mph. A PIT maneuver was conducted on the car, causing the vehicle to come to a stop. Troopers began issuing commands to the driver to exit the car before taking him into custody.
