This is the amusing moment a pet dog was seen lying flat on its back and fast asleep while a Buddhist monk delivered a sermon.

The white pooch, dressed in a small grey shirt, dozed in front of the altar during a prayer session at Wat Samakkhi in Yasothon, Thailand.

Footage captured by a devotee, Kittiwin Khamnon, shows the canine with its front paws resting on its chest and its back legs sprawled across the floor on January 3.

While the Luang Por led the sermon, the devotees could be heard repeating solemn chants.

Kittiwin said: 'The dog was so cute. I simply couldn't take my eyes off him. He belongs to one of the worshippers and often tags along to the temple to join the prayers.'

Many Buddhist temples across the country serve as sanctuaries for pets, welcoming them as a practical expression of compassion for all living beings - a core tenet of the Buddhist faith. However, out of respect for the sacred space and other visitors, owners are expected to keep their dogs leashed, quiet, and away from areas where food is being prepared or served.
