A dramatic video has emerged capturing the moment a skier got caught in an avalanche in Andorra on Monday.

The terrifying footage, shot on a camera strapped to skier David Mitoku’s chest, shows a small avalanche forming under his skis which causes him to fall over and become buried under snow.

"There was not a lot of snow and the official avalanche danger was pretty low" Mitoku later wrote online.

"I decided to jump onto the slope and while doing the second turn I felt that the floor starting to move. I didn't get completely buried and I could keep more or less in the same place because I could set the edge of my skis in the snow underneath.”

“My friend was following the avalanche protocol, and the first thing he did was to keep in mind the last place he saw me. Luckily that was all that happened and I didn't get hurt."
