A video has emerged from China capturing the moment police officers rescued a newborn baby from a toilet in factory accommodation in Shandong Province earlier this year.

According to local news reports, police in Qingdao City were alerted to reports from factory staff that an infant had been found in a female toilet cubicle.

When officers arrived they found the baby completely naked, but still alive, in the toilet bowl.

They wrapped the child in a blanket and sent him to the nearest hospital for treatment shortly before they discovered the mother who had fainted in another area of the bathroom.

According to police reports, the 19-year-old mother is an employee of the factory and had decided to have the baby – conceived with her boyfriend – in secret.

However, shortly after giving birth on April 14, the woman left the baby in the toilet and collapsed.

The woman’s family visited her and the baby in hospital and will help raise the child.
