A 60-square-metre sinkhole opened up on a road in northwestern China, swallowing a taxi.

The aftermath video, shot in Guyuan city in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on September 9, shows a taxi getting trapped inside the four-metre-deep sinkhole.

The taxi driver named Guo can be seen coming out of the car and running up to escape.

According to Guo, the road suddenly collapsed underneath when he drove past causing the vehicle to drop into the sinkhole.

Fortunately, no one was injured. The collapse might be caused by the broken drainage pipe, reports said.
