A road in Castleford, West Yorkshire, became impassible to many motorists on Sunday 20 February, after heavy rain caused the nearby River Aire to burst its banks.

The area, like much of the UK, has been hit by Storm Dudley, Storm Eunice, and now Storm Franklin, without a break.

Barnsdale Road sits between Allerton Bywater and Castleford and is a major route in and out of the town.

Road blocks were put in place to prevent motorists becoming trapped or stranded.

Flood warnings issued by the Met (Meteorological) Office were put in place until 3pm local time on Monday.
