A steel canopy knocked down by the bricks falling off a hotel building struck pedestrians, killing 1 in southern China.

Aftermath video filmed in the city of Huizhou in Guangdong Province on January 30 shows the steel frames and concrete blocks scattered on the ground in front of the Honghuahu Hotel.

A boy was heard shouting "dad" repeatedly and crying. Nearby residents were trying to rescue the injured pedestrians.

According to reports, the bricks on the top floor of the hotel building fell off and hit the steel canopy on the second floor. The canopy then fell down and struck the pedestrians under the building.

One person was killed and three others were injured.

1月30日，广东惠州惠城区，一酒店的发生高空重物坠落事件，坠落物砸到路人和车辆，现场一片狼藉有人受伤。
现场视频显示，在一家酒店大门旁的人行道上，散落着不少钢架、水泥块，还有钢架横七竖八地悬在空中。不少市民上前帮忙清理现场，救助伤者。
据现场一名商户介绍，事故发生于30日傍晚时分，酒店名字是红花湖假日酒店，有路人被砸中倒下，路上散落着不少材料碎片。有小孩在现场哭着喊爸爸，过了大约一分钟，有行人将伤者扶起，后有两名女子将伤者转移到空地，并帮他们做心肺复苏。之后有三辆救护车来到现场将伤者带走。
1月31日，惠城区宣传部通报称：1月30日傍晚6时30分许，惠城区龙丰街道红花湖酒店（该酒店此前已停业）顶楼抛光耐磨砖（附着水泥砂浆）脱落下坠，砸中三楼室外钢架外装饰腰线、钢架雨棚后一起坠落，导致地面1人经抢救无效死亡，3人受伤。
